Reflecting on Teaching and Learning
‘In a culture that sometimes equates work with suffering, it is revolutionary to suggest that the best inward sign of vocation is deep gladness – revolutionary but true’. Parker J. Palmer 2007.
Teaching and learning have been in my blood all my life. Both parents and my eldest brother were teachers. I have been teaching since 1974, but I have not really reflected deeply on the process until recent times. There have been three ‘acts’ that have prompted my reflections:
- PhD research into successful Christian schooling in Australia (2000 – 2005)
- Starting my own business, Twelves Consulting, in 2008
- Launching the Master of Teaching (Primary) at Alphacrucis College in 2011
All three ‘acts’ ‘forced’ reflection while the chalk-face of day-to-day does not. It has been a thrilling and enlightening journey, a voyage of discovery.
This website is a ‘resource box’ for those interested in teaching and learning. Explore and make suggestions for change and addition. Teaching and learning, by definition, must be a team effort. Your contributions are most welcome.
