Experience

Jim Twelves has had more than 33 years experience as an educator mainly in high schools. His speciality has been Geography, Geology and Biology teaching and Head of Department in an independent day and boarding school in England. Since his emigration to Australia he has held Deputy Principal and Principalship roles in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. He has also studied at Melbourne University gaining his Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration, Masters of Education and Doctor of Philosophy.

Achievements

Jim has inspired many hundreds of students and scores of school leaders and teachers in ways that are impossible to measure. In addition, as Board Chair in Victoria, he led the foundation of a new school, capturing the dream of others over many years and establishing the tangible reality complete with registration and accreditation. In New South Wales, as school Principal, he saw his school nearly double in enrolments over five years and this year, as Director of Twelves Consulting, he led a team in the development of national policy frameworks and subsequently the suite of policies for three schools in different states but all part of an Australia wide corporation.

Expertise

Jim has been described as a people person with very high administrative skills. He enjoys the big picture as it defines the strategy but he doesn’t miss the detail. His strengths include mentoring, speaking engagements, staff retreats and leading professional development workshops; also systems and survey analysis, and strategic planning. His wide experience of education under many different regulatory regimes has equipped him to advise on the best route forward as school leadership and boards navigate their way in an ever changing environment.
